A veterinarian is required to join a country practice with a large animal focus in the country town of Bell in regional Queensland.
This practice caseload is 70% large animal and 30% companion animal. We have a production animal focus servicing a significant number of beef feedlot clients and cow calf operations, as well as servicing a small number of dairies and piggeries. There is minimal horse work.
The successful applicant can be experienced, recently graduated or soon to graduate.
You will be passionate about production animals and have a genuine interest in rural mixed practice. The role will involve approximately 50% companion animal and 50% large animal work.
Ideally you will have skills or extra training or a strong interest in an area of production animal work. You will fit seamlessly into our team by:
- having a positive attitude and desire to participate within a small, busy and energetic team
- showing initiative and ability to take responsibility for your work
- embracing the challenge of a varied case load
- confidently developing a rapport with both our clients and your team.
You will become part of a 5 vet team where the senior veterinarian is engaged in full time feedlot consultancy.
Vets are provided with a fully equipped work vehicle.
Continuing education is strongly encouraged. As part of Apiam Animal Health – Australia’s largest rural and production animal veterinary group – we offer considerable opportunities for training, personal development and career progression. Apiam’s clinics are in the heartlands of Australia’s dairy, beef feedlot and pig regions, and also include a number of significant companion animal clinics including a new referral hospital in Bendigo. Opportunities across our clinics are encouraged, and we offer industry-leading internal training.
The practice is located in the country town of Bell, on the Western Downs in Queensland. Bell is a town rich in agricultural heritage. It is at the western foot of the Bunya Mountains and surrounded by fertile farmland. Only 30 minutes’ drive to the Bunya Mountains National Park. Approx. 40km from large well serviced centre of Dalby, 1 hour west of Toowoomba and 3 hours to Brisbane or Sunshine Coast.
