Are you an experienced mixed animal vet looking for a change? Or perhaps you are a thrill-seeking swine vet from the USA who is ready to escape the polar vortex and snow dumps of the mid-West!
Apiam Animal Health is seeking a veterinarian with 2+ years mixed animal experience to join Australia’s largest swine veterinary group.
Based in our beautiful city of Bendigo as part of a friendly national team of dedicated swine health veterinarians, you will provide preventative health programs, disease investigation, production data analysis and biosecurity auditing services to a loyal progressive client base.
Ideally, you will have graduated in the last couple of years and have a passion for swine. You will most likely have been working in pig practice or in a mixed practice that services pig clients and have a basic knowledge of pig health and production
BUT – IF YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN A PIG BEFORE, FEAR NOT! You can use the veterinary skills you have acquired in mixed practice over the last few years and apply them to pigs!
You will learn from those around you (we take two vets on many farm visits) in addition to other professional development opportunities including undertaking a competency based training program and spending time with industry leaders, both in Australia and internationally. You will also have the opportunity to attend industry events and trade shows to further improve your knowledge of swine health and production and to increase your industry networking opportunities.
You will be encouraged, particularly with your knowledge attained in other farm animals, to bring new ideas and actively contribute to the future development of the services and products that the Apiam pig team will provide to clients into the future. You will enjoy and be challenged by working with our progressive clients, have the support of a large veterinary and support team and be encouraged to develop your own area of expertise within the business and industry. As a member of Apiam Animal Health, Australia’s largest production animal vet group with over 150 veterinarians, you will also benefit from the knowledge gained by interacting and collaborating with your peers that provide vet, nutrition and genetic services to other production animal species.
You will have plenty of tools to play with to investigate acute and chronic disease problems and put your preventative programs in place. If you have a passion for analysing data, applied research or developing new tools, you will be provided with opportunities to develop these areas.
Having worked flat out during a five day week, probably flown to a different state or country and driven a thousand miles, you will get plenty of time to rejuvenate with minimal weekend work and a trip or two overseas back to North America or to Europe to expand your knowledge further.
Living in Central Victoria is great! We have a vibrant lifestyle with plenty of cafes, restaurants, sporting facilities, cycling trails, wineries, schools for any kids and only 1½ hours to the big smoke!
We offer a salary package well above the award, incentives, paid AVA membership, volunteer leave, fully maintained vehicle and are open to anything else you need to develop your role and grow the business.
Come and join the dedicated team of Apiam swine health veterinarians.
