ACE Laboratory Services- Vaccine Production Trainee

Apiam is Australia’s largest rural and regional veterinary group providing services to the companion animal and livestock industries which includes Dairy, Beef, Pig, Sheep and Poultry.

We are currently seeking a trainee to join our Vaccine team at ACE Laboratory Services (ACE).  As a trainee at ACE the successful applicant will be part of a team that manufactures a wide range of bacterial vaccines, as well as taking part in related QA and R&D activities; this is a hands-on role that would require the trainee to be involved in all areas of the vaccine manufacturing.   As part of the traineeship the successful applicant would require completing coursework and schooling provided by a registered training organization.

As an accredited laboratory all staff are required to work together to ensure that the laboratory operates at a high standard by following established standard operating procedures for testing and equipment maintenance, as well as performing and monitoring quality control procedures.

  • Follow established Standard operating procedures for Antigen Production and vaccine manufacturing.
  • Maintain production records.
  • Maintain stocks of vaccine consumables
  • Maintain stocks of microbiological media
  • Maintain production equipment in a clean serviceable condition
  • Decontaminate the clean rooms and equipment on a regular basis and maintain the facility as a safe working environment
  • Maintain laboratory equipment in a clean serviceable condition
  • Preparation of materials and equipment used in the laboratory
  • Decontaminate the laboratory benches and equipment on a regular basis and maintain the laboratory as a safe working environment
  • Maintain OH&S policies and procedures for a safe work environment.
  • Perform the duties of other positions in ACE Laboratory Services when required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer-based data entry and retrieval methods
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established procedures
  • Completion of year 12, including mathematics and science-based subjects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practice of laboratory safety and sterile techniques
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Applications would be an advantage
  • Valid Australian Drivers licence
  • A methodical and well-organised approach to work
  • Ability to work in a team
  • This position has a requirement to work shift work or out of hours and will involve evening or weekend work
  • Eligible and willing to complete the relevant Cert III and IV tertiary training.
