Singleton Veterinary Hospital is located in the large riverside town of Singleton in the Hunter Valley. There are all the amenities you need, along with wine tasting, heritage walks and much more!The area is approximately 2 hours from Sydney and just over an hour from the Newcastle coastline.
About the Position:
This role will be responsible for leading, supervising and providing on-going training and support to our nursing team. We are looking for a nurse with leadership qualities who is seeking a dynamic role, working closely with the clinic coordinators. This nurse will be required to work a mixture of clinical and administrative shifts throughout the week.
- We are looking for a head nurse to job share up to 30 hours per week with shifts spread across the work week. You will also be required to participate in a rotating weekend and public holiday roster.
- Undertaking general nursing tasks, including pre- and post-operative care, animal pathology, emergency, critical care and reception roles.
- Mentor and supervise trainee nurses and assist them with their course requirements.
- Responsibility for roster changes when staff are sick
- Flexibility in days worked to cover any urgent shifts.
- Assist with day to day running and workflow of the hospital including directing vets and nurses.
About you:
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience (Vet Tech, Cert IV or equivalent) in a busy hospital setting.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in all aspects of veterinary nursing, including dental procedures, anaesthesia, x-rays, IV catheter placement, pathology, fluid therapy, intubations, critical care monitoring, and nurse consults.
- Taking initiative to enhance clinic operations and efficiency
- Possesses strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- A calm and friendly presence, guiding and developing the nursing team, building a positive team culture.
- Flexible and adaptable within a team environment
- Confidence in mentoring and managing nurses and fielding client complaints.
- Exceptional problem solving and decision-making skills.
