Clinic Lead Veterinarian – Fraser Coast Veterinary Services

Lead Veterinarian

Fraser Coast Veterinary Services | Maryborough, QLD | Full Time

Step into an established leadership role with Fraser Coast Veterinary Services, where strong foundations, loyal clients and a genuinely supportive team are already in place.

We are seeking a Lead Veterinarian to provide clinical leadership across our companion animal hospital, mentor a capable team of veterinarians and nurses, and maintain a rewarding hands-on clinical role within a thriving clinic. This is an opportunity to lead with purpose, continue delivering excellent clinical care, and help shape the future of a well-regarded regional practice.

About the clinic

We are a long-standing and trusted small animal practice, with our main clinic in Maryborough and a smaller branch in Howard.

You will be joining a highly capable and friendly team, including:

  • Experienced vets who genuinely support each other
  • Skilled, hands-on nurses and receptionists who keep things running smoothly
  • A collaborative environment where help is always nearby

We’re also fully equipped to deliver a high standard of care, with our clinic fitted out with digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, in-house IDEXX labs and advanced anaesthetic monitoring equipment.

Maryborough offers the ideal balance of lifestyle, community and convenience, with relaxed regional living and easy access to some of Queensland’s most beautiful areas. The climate is warm, people are friendly, and cost of living much more affordable than major cities.

The opportunity

As Clinic Lead, you will work closely with the management team to guide clinical standards, support team development, and foster a positive culture of collaboration and accountability. You will enjoy a varied medical and surgical caseload, supported by experienced nurses, modern equipment and a team that genuinely values quality care, with assistance. The transition to this role will be backed in addition by our current co-clinical lead, who has the knowledge and experience to support you as you settle in.

Whether you are already leading a veterinary team or are an experienced senior veterinarian ready to take the next step, you will have the autonomy, mentorship and support to grow as a leader while remaining clinically active. You will play a key role in strengthening team capability, driving clinical excellence, and ensuring clients and patients continue to receive outstanding care.

The role

This role offers the balance of leadership, clinical variety and lifestyle flexibility. You will help guide the clinical team while continuing to enjoy meaningful hands-on veterinary work.

What you can expect:

  • 4-day full-time work week
  • No after hours or on call (opportunity to join a/h roster if interested)
  • An extra day off after any rostered weekend (we are open Saturday mornings only)
  • A varied caseload — from preventative care and dentistry to surgery, emergencies, and opportunities for thorough case work-ups
  • Lead and collaborate with a strong team of veterinarians, nurses and receptionists
  • The freedom to grow your skills, with support always available
  • Genuine input into the future direction of the clinic and its clinical standards

Most importantly, we will work with you to create a roster and role structure that supports both your career goals and your lifestyle.

About you

You are an experienced small animal veterinarian who leads from the front, communicates with warmth and clarity, and is passionate about developing people as well as delivering excellent patient outcomes.

You will bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in companion animal practice
  • Strong medical and surgical capabilities and sound clinical judgement
  • A commitment to high-quality patient care and client experiences
  • A genuine interest in mentoring, coaching and developing veterinarians and nurses
  • The ability to build trust, create a positive team culture and lead with empathy and accountability
  • Previous leadership experience, or the readiness to step into your first clinical leadership role

If you love medicine, enjoy supporting others to and want to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative regional practice, this could be the opportunity you have been looking for.
