Help build Melbourne’s newest emergency and referral hospital in Whittlesea.
Vic Vet Emergency and Referral is an exciting addition to the region and will form part of a triple-tiered service model delivering general practice, emergency, and referral care under one integrated banner. Our purpose-built hospital will provide high-quality emergency and critical care to Melbourne’s northern corridor. We’re building a supportive, well-resourced ECC team and looking for veterinarians who thrive on variety, teamwork, and making a difference when it matters most.

  • We have a hospital and modern workflow in a purpose-built ECC setting, designed for fast, seamless triage, diagnostics and treatment.
  • Skilled ECC nurses, experienced colleagues, clear clinical protocols and access to broader Apiam support are provided. We design the service around our people: protective rosters, supportive nursing, and leaders who listen. Your wellbeing and clinical excellence comes first.
  • Flexible rostering—full-time or part-time; mix of overnight, weekend, and public holiday shifts, where the real excitement and variety of emergency care happen. We also offer casual ECC positions- perfect for veterinarians who want to balance emergency work with other commitments.
  • Wellbeing & development- Permanent employees enjoy four weeks leave, one week paid study leave, funded memberships (e.g. VetEducation), EAP with Mental Health First Aid in every clinic and paid parental + volunteer leave. Plus, ECC development to become a strong emergency clinician through enrolment in emergency learning.

  • Comfortable with sole-charge, supported by ECC nurses.
  • Calm, clear communicator with a team-first mindset and commitment to patient welfare. Being a great communicator is crucial for building strong relationships with clients, staff and referring veterinarians.
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, or equivalent veterinary degree registrable in Victoria, Australia.
  • Flexible opportunities, permanent or casual, with shared overnight and weekend shifts to suit your lifestyle.
