FIFO Veterinarian Opportunity | Harbour City & Boyne Tannum Vet Clinics

Gladstone, QLD | 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off | Flights, accommodation and vehicle provided

Harbour City and Boyne Tannum Veterinary Clinics are two well-established, community-focused practices located just 20 minutes apart in sunny Central Queensland. Together, they offer a rare FIFO opportunity where you can become a valued part of two closely connected teams, enjoy the variety of working across multiple clinic environments, and make a meaningful contribution to regional veterinary care.

Both clinics are purpose-built and well equipped with modern diagnostics, including digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house IDEXX labs and dedicated surgical suites. With experienced veterinarians, skilled nursing teams and a shared commitment to quality care, you will be supported to manage a diverse and rewarding caseload while working collaboratively across both sites.

Following the successful completion of our previous FIFO campaign, we’re seeking an experienced small animal veterinarian (3+ years) to join the team in a FIFO capacity across Harbour City and Boyne Tannum, with a third location on the way.

This is a standout opportunity for a veterinarian who wants the freedom to maintain their home base, the structure of a predictable FIFO roster, and the earning potential of a regional role without stepping away from high-quality medicine, continuity of care or a connected clinical team.

The Opportunity

This is not a typical locum position. It’s a genuine FIFO role designed for long-term contribution, clinical continuity and strong team integration. You will be:

  • An integrated member of two collaborative clinical teams
  • Building lasting relationships with clients, colleagues and the wider regional community
  • Contributing to continuity of care, case progression and positive patient outcomes across both clinics
  • Supported by experienced veterinarians, capable nurses and a dedicated teletriage service

Role Details

  • 12-month FIFO arrangement, working two weeks on, two weeks off
  • Travel from your home base (east coast only), with flights, accommodation and a vehicle provided
  • Flexible working pattern within each rotation, with an 8.5 or 10-day fortnight available
  • Sustainable, shared after-hours roster with dedicated teletriage support to help minimise unnecessary call-outs

During each rotation, you will manage a varied small animal caseload including consultations, diagnostics and surgery, with the equipment, systems and clinical support needed to deliver a high standard of care across both practices.

About You

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in small animal practice
  • Confident working independently in a busy clinical environment
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills with a focus on client relationships
  • Collaborative and team-focused approach
  • Genuine interest in regional practice and delivering high standards of care

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Competitive FIFO remuneration ($900 per day)
  • Strong earning potential, including additional after-hours and on-call earnings (up to $10-15k)
  • Flights from major east coast centres, accommodation and car fully covered
  • Consistent two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off roster providing extended downtime and lifestyle flexibility

Location

Gladstone offers a well-serviced regional lifestyle and supportive local community. Surrounded by beaches, waterways and national parks, it’s an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts — from boating and fishing to hiking, camping and exploring the nearby Southern Great Barrier Reef. The region enjoys a warm climate year-round and a relaxed pace of life, while still providing all the essentials of a large regional centre, including excellent schools, healthcare, dining and retail.

Interested? Talk to us about a clinic visit to meet both teams, or we can organise a short locum trial so you can experience the clinics, the roster and the regional lifestyle before committing.
