Vaccine Production Technical Officer – ACE Laboratory Services, Bendigo

Full-time | Bendigo, Victoria

Join a specialist animal health laboratory where your technical expertise will support the production of custom vaccines that help primary producers reduce antibiotic use and improve animal welfare outcomes.

ACE Laboratory Services (ACE) is a specialist testing laboratory based in Bendigo, providing services across veterinary diagnostics, veterinary autogenous vaccine production, and food, feed and water testing for clients in Australia and the Asia-Pacific.

We are seeking an experienced Vaccine Production Technical Officer to join the Vaccine team. In this role, you will help manufacture a wide range of bacterial vaccines and contribute to related quality assurance and research and development activities. Previous experience in vaccine production or the animal health industry would be highly regarded.

As part of an accredited laboratory, you will help maintain high operating standards by following established standard operating procedures for testing and equipment maintenance, performing and monitoring quality control procedures, and contributing to audit preparation and activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Antigen Production and vaccine manufacturing
  • Maintain production records & stock levels
  • Maintain production equipment in a clean serviceable condition
  • Decontaminate clean rooms and equipment regularly, and help maintain the facility as a safe working environment

  • Assist with organising vaccine manufacturing schedules

  • Assist with documentation preparation and review
  • Be available to participate in APVMA audits
  • Assist in training colleagues to maintain consistent processes.
  • Assist team members in with other duties when required

Skills, qualifications and experience

We are seeking an experienced and capable technical officer to join our skilled team. You will bring:

  • A degree or diploma in Applied Science, a tertiary qualification with substantial relevant experience, or a Certificate III or IV in Laboratory Skills or Laboratory Techniques with a minimum of three years’ practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in fermentation and vaccine production processes within a cGMP environment.
  • Broad awareness of GMP regulations and NATA standards
  • Problem solving capabilities
  • Strong communication skills and competent using MS word and Excel
  • Experience working in a veterinary focused laboratory highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience in bacteriology techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety principles and sterile technique practices.
  • A valid Australian driver’s licence.
  • This role may require shift work, out-of-hours work, and evening or weekend work.
