Veterinary Nurse- Smythesdale Animal Hospital

Veterinary Nurse
Smythesdale Animal Hospital

Full time or part time

We are looking for a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team at Smythesdale. This role would suit someone who enjoys being hands on in clinic, values teamwork, and wants flexibility in how they work.

Whether you are seeking full time hours or a part time arrangement that fits around other commitments, we are happy to talk.

Our Smythesdale clinic is a well-established part of the local community, providing genuine care to our clients and their animals. The team is small, welcoming, and supportive, with a strong focus on working together and helping each other out on busy days. We are a companion animal clinic but have recently branched out into mixed animals, so we cater to a large part of the community.

You will be working alongside experienced veterinarians and nurses who value good communication, a positive attitude, and a sense of humour. We take pride in creating a workplace where people feel comfortable asking questions, learning new skills, and being themselves at work.

As part of Apiam Animal Health, the clinic also benefits from being connected to a wider network, while still maintaining a close knit, local feel.

You will be involved in all aspects of nursing support, including:

  • Assisting with consultations, surgery and procedures
  • Patient care, monitoring and recovery
  • Anaesthesia support
  • Client communication and education
  • Maintaining a clean, well-organised clinic environment
  • Supporting vets and fellow nurses as part of a close-knit team
  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent experience
  • A positive, team focused approach
  • Good communication skills and a genuine care for patients and clients
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A willingness to learn and grow in your role
  • Full time or part time flexibility
  • Paid professional memberships and registration where eligible, including Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia and Australian Veterinary Nurse and Technician registration
  • Support for training, CPD, and further study in line with Apiam policies
  • Generous staff discounts for your own pets
  • Paid parental leave
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program
  • Access to a range of retail, travel, and lifestyle discounts
  • Supportive leadership and a genuinely friendly team culture

If you are a nurse who enjoys being valued, supported, and part of a team that looks after each other, we would love to hear from you. To apply, send your resume and cover letter to [email protected]
