Veterinary Nurse Team Leader – Romsey Veterinary Surgery – Full-time

You will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care while mentoring and developing our nursing team to achieve the highest standards of veterinary excellence.

About the Role

As our Nurse Team Leader, you will support our veterinarians in providing outstanding patient care while overseeing the day-to-day activities of the nursing team. You will be responsible for clinical nursing duties, staff supervision, training, workflow management, and contributing to a positive and collaborative clinic culture.

This is a full-time position that includes participation in weekend and on-call rosters when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with consultations, hospital care and surgical procedures.
  • Perform pathology procedures, radiography, post-operative care, and medication preparation.
  • Communicate treatment plans and patient updates to clients.
  • Lead, supervise, and support the veterinary nursing team.
  • Assist in co-ordinating daily nursing workflows to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to develop team capability.
  • Assist in conducting performance and development reviews.
  • Manage nursing rosters and assist with staff scheduling.
  • Coordinate admissions and patient flow throughout the clinic.
  • Monitor stock levels and ordering requirements.
  • Support reception and client service functions when required.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving clinic procedures and protocols.

About You

This role is suited to an experienced and compassionate veterinary nurse who thrives in a busy work environment and enjoys both clinical and administrative aspects of nursing. You will bring:

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working within a veterinary practice.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising veterinary nurses or clinical staff highly regarded
  • Strong understanding of surgical nursing, anaesthesia monitoring, and patient care.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and client relationship skills
  • Compassionate and committed to delivering exceptional animal care.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities.
