Senior Equine Stud Vet – Hunter Equine, NSW

Apiam Animal Health operates a group of a practices in rural and regional Australia. We are seeking an experienced specialist Equine Veterinary Surgeon for Hunter Equine Centre – NSW to fill a full-time role.

Hunter Equine Centre is seeking a Senior Equine Associate Veterinarian to join our team prior to the 2025 breeding season in August.

The successful applicant will have responsibility for independent veterinary care on leading thoroughbred stud farms as well as working within a team of ambulatory veterinarians. In addition to a minimum of five years experience (including reproductive stud farm work) previous hospital experience such as an internship and diagnostic imaging experience is desirable to provide stud farms with a comprehensive service. An interest in sales, yearling or race track work would be highly beneficial.

Our clients include some of the most successful and best managed stud farms in the Hunter Valley, with over 1000 mares under our care, and an important yearling sale component. We also service many of the local trainers and pre-trainers in the area and consider ourselves very fortunate to have such friendly and successful clients.

Selection criteria would necessitate a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent that can be fully registered in New South Wales(www.vpb.gov.au). Hunter Equine Centre will assist with visa requirements to work in Australia.

Key Information

  • Remuneration would reflect experience and qualifications with salary packages around $200,000 PA for right candidate.
  • An equipped car  would be provided.
  • The contract would also cover phone expenses, a generous CDP package, membership fees and uniforms.
  • Four-weeks annual paid with flexible options for additional unpaid leave and travel.
  • The rota is generally 1-in-2 during the breeding season; during the off-season it is a 1-in-4 rota,  with out-of-hours call-out fees payable to the vets and time-off-in-leu for busy periods.
  • Flexible start date prior to 1st August 2025
