Veterinary Nurse/Clinical Hospital Manager – Full-time

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Managing hospitals clinical requirements
  • Preparing animals for surgery and provide support for surgical procedures
  • Large animal nursing support, including Equine
  • Administering drugs, anaesthetics, and injections under veterinary supervision
  • Holding and monitoring animals during operations
  • Maintaining, sterilising and laying out surgical equipment
  • Carrying out post-operative theatre routines including cleaning up after surgery
  • Undertaking diagnostic tests performing and record pathology procedures under supervision
  • Preparing and sending off laboratory samples
  • Providing veterinary nursing care and grief support to clients
  • Applying radiographic routines and implement procedures
  • Monitoring patient anaesthesia
  • Performing post-operative procedures such as bandage changes and fluid therapy
  • Nursing hospitalised animals, monitor clinical signs
  • Providing animal care in pain situations
  • Carrying out medical nursing routines
  • Cleaning, maintaining and storage of theatre instruments, equipment and supplies
  • Maintaining clinic cleanliness and re stocking
  • Assisting with routine diagnostic imaging procedures (e.g., scintigraphy and MRI)

Essential Criteria

  • A relevant Veterinary or Veterinary Nurse Certificate or higher qualification or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years’ professional experience
  • A minimum of at least two years’ professional equine veterinary nurse experience is required

The salary offered will be in the range of $75,000 – $80,000 depending on experience and specialisation/s.
